In chambers, New Delhi

Mr. Lavi Tyagi holds a master's degree in law and graduated in law from Chaudhary Charan Singh University. He relinquished provincial services in answer to a call to independent legal practice.

In the decade since, he has appeared in over five thousand matters before the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi, the Allahabad High Court, the Punjab & Haryana High Court at Chandigarh, and district courts across several states — petitions of every nature, for national, international, public, private and individual clients.

He also practises before the National Company Law Tribunal, New Delhi, advising companies under the Companies Act, the Arbitration Act, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and allied corporate enactments.

That span has produced particular depth in criminal matters, civil matters of every nature, land acquisition and consolidation, co-operative societies, contempt, NIA Act proceedings, constitutional writs, company matters, and service and education matters — together with an exacting command of court procedure and administrative practice.

Mission

To argue every matter on its record.

A brief is accepted on the strength of its facts and the law that governs them. The chamber's obligation is to place that record before the court completely, accurately and on time — and to tell the client plainly what it will bear.

Vision

Counsel that is reachable, and prepared.

Litigation is slow and its language is unfamiliar. The chamber aims to be the practice a client can actually reach, in which the person arguing the matter is the person who read the file.

Beyond the Brief

Legal awareness and access.

Sessions conducted with the local administration on rights, procedure and remedy — for people who would otherwise meet the law only once it is too late.

Professional Values

How the chamber works.

Candour first

An honest assessment at the outset, including when litigation is not the wiser course.

Confidentiality

Client identity, instructions and documents are never discussed or published.

Preparation

The record is read in full before it is argued. There is no substitute.

Proportion

Costs and timelines are set against what the matter can realistically recover.

Accessibility

Clients hear about their own matter from the counsel conducting it.

Procedure

Most matters are won or lost on procedure long before they are argued on merits.

The Team

Counsel who appear alongside.

Advocates instructed on matters requiring additional appearance or specialist support.
